NITROFURAZONE - IQB®.

Synthetic organic antiseptic, product of furan, whose nitro- group in position 5 provides a strong antibacterial action, but a high systemic toxicity, reason why it is very useful and effective used local and externally. Low solubility in water and alcohols, used in hydrosoluble preparations of external use at concentrations of around 0.2 %. It travels on hydrosoluble and hygroscopic polyethyleneglycol compounds favoring the natural moisturizing of burnt or grafted epithelial tissues and, in turn, favoring their rapid regeneration and scaring. Totally applied, its systemic absorption is little or null, even on eroded or denuded skin, and does not produce irritation, pain or injuries on those tissues; reason why it is so highly effective and the product of choice for the external treatment of burns and/or skin grafts. Nitrofurazone product shall be at all times prevented from direct sunlight, excessive heat or intense fluorescent lights, as well as from alkaline materials.
